Swim Lesson Policies

Instructors:

A-Beautiful Pools swim instructors are experienced in the swimming industry and in working with children. All swim teachers are put through training which reviews lesson plans and goals and discusses games and teaching methods. All A-Beautiful Pools, Inc.'s lifeguards are certified Red Cross Lifeguards who are certified in Community CPR, as well.

We will make every effort to keep the instructor consistent during your class session; however there may be times when an instructor must miss a class due to illness or emergencies. When we are notified in advance of the instructor's absence we will provide a substitute if available. If no substitute is available, we will make every effort to contact your before the lesson and help you schedule a makeup lesson.

Scheduling:

We will try to honor the dates and times you request whenever possible.  Dates and times are subject to change based on instructor and customer availability.  If you have a scheduling conflict please speak with the swim lesson coordinator or make a comment on your registration form about your situation.  We will make every effort to work around your conflict the best we can, if we can.  However, makeup lessons are not available for vacation absences for group or semiprivate lessons (when children other than your own are in the group) so please plan accordingly. We will make every effort to work with you when/if possible. Please let us know of your specific situation when registering and we will make every effort to work with you when/if possible.

Class Size:

Please understand that we have many instructors that need to be informed several days in advance before they are scheduled to teach in order to provide the best possible lesson for your child. Due to this, we will schedule classes based on all forms received through the Wednesday evening before the sessions starts. Forms received after this time may not be able to register for the class desired but will be given an option of joining a class already formed if possible. We will do our best to honor all registrations through Friday before the session start date.

In order to form a full group class, we must have 4 registered participants. If this class is not filled for the time desired, we will offer you several options so that your child can still enjoy swim lessons and not cancel your lessons. Whenever possible we will try to combine skill levels, move class times to another time when you are available or possibly to another neighborhood. The last option we have is to create a semi-private group class rather than canceling. Group lessons are limited to a maximum of 5 children per group for most levels.

Makeup Lessons:

Makeup lessons are available for classes missed due to instructor absences (with no substitute provided) and weather cancellations.  We will not provide makeup lessons due to vacations so please plan accordingly.  Your instructor will make makeup lesson arrangements with you when a class is canceled due to weather. In most cases the makeup lessons will occur during the weekend, the week following a group session or time will be added to another lesson. All makeup lessons must be approved prior to the lesson date by the swim lesson coordinator.  Please do not try to schedule makeup lessons with your instructor as they are not authorized to schedule lessons without approval from the swim lesson coordinator.

Weather:

All instructors will be given your contact information prior to the start of the session and you will receive their information as well. If/when the instructor decides to cancel the class due to weather, the instructor will call you at least 15 minutes prior to the start of class to inform you of the cancellation. If the weather looks questionable 30 minutes before class, please call the instructor to see if the instructor is still teaching. The instructors are required to inform the swim lesson coordinator of a class cancellation due to weather so that you can schedule a makeup lesson. Please understand that storms arise suddenly in the Houston area during the summer months and prior notice may not always be available.

If a class must stop due to weather, you will receive a makeup class only if the lesson lasted less than 15 minutes. For classes that last longer than 15 minutes but must stop due to weather, we will extend one of your remaining classes by that much time or if there is only 5 or less minutes left in class, the teacher will review swimming skills and safety rules on the pool deck for the remainder of class.

Payment:

We accept cash, money order, check and VISA & MASTERCARD. VISA & MASTERCARD payments can be made over the telephone through our office or through the swim lesson coordinator. Online payments will be available beginning June 1, 2009. Credit card payment must be received by the first day of class. If paying by cash or check, your place in class must be held with a credit card. This credit card hold will be given to the swim lesson coordinator but will not be run unless payment is not received by the 3rd day of class. Cash or check payments must be given directly to the swim lesson coordinator or sent to our office by the 3rd day of class. Swim lesson instructors are not allowed to accept any payments. You do not have pay for your swim lessons until you receive a confirmation email/phone call from the swim lesson coordinator verifying the dates and times of class. Once your class has been scheduled, times verified and payment received, no refunds will be offered.
